OS1st® Compression products are designed with advanced technology for targeted support, comfort and various health benefits. Whether you're new to compression wear or a seasoned user, here are answers to common (and lesser-known) questions about understanding and caring for and your OS1st® compression products.
How did OS1st get started?
OS1st's first product, the FS6 Performance Foot Sleeve, was created to help relieve painful plantar fasciitis - designed specifically for targeted pain relief, comfort, and support. This innovative product introduced Compression Zone Technology®, which uses varying levels of compression in specific zones rather than just a single graduated pressure.
Then came the first-ever Plantar Fasciitis sock, FS4. Since then the OS1st line expanded with solutions for every runner’s needs. Today, OS1st’s patented technology continues to set their products apart, providing effective relief and support exactly where it’s needed.
What Is Compression Zone Technology®?
OS1st’s Compression Zone Technology® (C-zone) is a revolutionary approach to compression wear that applies varying compression levels across anatomically precise zones. It’s designed to:
-
Target Specific Areas: By adjusting the level of compression across different parts of the sock or sleeve, OS1st products can support specific conditions like plantar fasciitis or general foot and leg fatigue.
-
Support Movement: OS1st’s advanced knitting seamlessly transitions between zones, allowing for full mobility without sacrificing support.
-
Deliver Moisture-Wicking Comfort: Using micro-fibre Lycra yarn, C-zone products wick away moisture, keeping feet dry and comfortable all day.
Why Does OS1st Use Lycra® Energize Fibre?
OS1st’s Lycra® Energize fibre creates a custom-fit feel that is snug and flexible, following your natural movements. Unlike bulky braces or rigid splints, OS1st’s "Base Layer Bracing®" system allows you to wear compression products comfortably under your clothing, ensuring freedom of motion.

-
All-Day Comfort and Breathability: The moisture-wicking technology keeps skin dry and reduces the buildup of bacteria, promoting healthier skin and minimising odours.

How Should I Wash My OS1st Compression Socks & Sleeves?
Proper care is essential for maximising the lifespan and effectiveness of your compression socks and sleeves, especially given the quality materials in OS1st® products. Here’s the best way to wash your OS1st® compression socks:
-
Wash Separately or Use a Wash Bag: Prevent your socks from getting lost in the laundry shuffle by washing them separately or placing them in a wash bag.
-
Cold Water Only: Use cold water to avoid accelerated aging, which can be caused by hot water.
-
Turn Socks Inside Out: Since the inside of the sock is often the dirtiest, turning them inside out ensures thorough cleaning.
-
Use Gentle Detergent (No Bleach): Stick with mild, non-bleach detergent. Harsh cleaners can break down the fibers and reduce the effectiveness of compression zones.
How Should I Dry My OS1st Compression Socks?
Heat can damage the compression fibers and shorten the life of your socks. To keep them in top shape:
-
Hang to Dry: Air drying is ideal. It keeps the fibres intact, maintaining their elasticity and support.
-
Low-Heat Tumble Dry Only if Necessary: If machine drying is your only option, use the lowest heat setting to minimize impact on compression fibers.
How Should I Store My OS1st Compression Socks?
Rather than folding, lay your compression socks flat on top of one another in a drawer. This preserves their shape and keeps them organised. It also prevents stretching or misshaping that can come from rolling or bundling.
How Do I Figure Out My Size?
All OS1st products have a corresponding size chart that will help you choose the best size for you. We recommend using each individual size chart for each product. If you are between sizes, go with the bigger size.
Do OS1st's fight odour?
All OS1st products are treated with silver which is a natural way to fight odour and all OS1st products use a high-performance fabric that wicks moisture away from the skin for a dry experience.
How long does my OS1st last?
It all depends on how often you wear your product and what you do in them! A good rule of thumb is to check in at 6 months and make sure the compression is still working as it did when you bought it.
