Bromodosis, or smelly feet, is a very common medical condition often caused by a build-up of sweat, which results bacteria growth on the skin. These bacteria cause bad odours. Fungal infections like athlete’s foot can also lead to bromodosis.
Your feet have more sweat glands than any other part of the body. These glands release sweat throughout the day to help cool your body and keep your skin moist.
The good news is you can usually treat smelly feet yourself.
Always keep your feet clean and dry, including between your toes
Wash your feet at least once a day
Remove hard skin with a rasp/paddle and keep toenails short and clean - hard skin gets soggy and soft when it’s wet, creating a place where bacteria like to live
Use foot powder or an antiperspirant
Wear breathable or natural fabrics on your feet, like cotton
